Depends: In most, a simple exam will show ridging of the sutures if synostosis and not if not. Some get x-rays to boost their there accuracy but the specialists at the craniofacial center in Dallas consider it a waste of time. They label based on exam and proceed with more specific studies if needed. Sounds like you need a 3rd opinion.
