Prior infection?: Please have an evaluation with a lung specialist. He may need testing for TB, a CT scan of his chest and/or treatment for Bronchospasm. The location and type of calcification was not specified. You may re submit more details. Were there initial symptoms, including fever? Is you son otherwise well? Monitor growth and check his temperature daily until seen.

A 31-year-old member asked:

I have burning in my lungs when just breathing normally, a sore throat, and a burning pain when I cough. Is this pneumonia?

Could be: This time of the year a viral infection is more likely to produce these symptoms and predispose for for bacterial pneumonia. A chest xray would be helpful.

If this is going on for a while it is likely not pneumonia, but reflux or another process. A chest X-ray is helpful, as is seeing your physician.

Needs a look: A lot of people have non-productive coughs this time of year but adding in the other symptoms makes it worthwhile to see you doctor for a look. If you are a smoker, you should be in your doctor's office now! it is much better to have someone tell you it will go away than ask you why weren't you in here sooner!

A 39-year-old male asked:

How do I know if I just have a head cold with a cough and not walking pneumonia? I don't have a fever. I have a slight sore throat.

Walking pneumonia: The term "walking" pneumonia applies to a chest infection that is serious but does not make you feel bad enough to stay in bed. It is somewhat difficult to diagnose- -usually when someone has had cough symptoms for over a week and sees a doctor for a chest xray. I assume your symptoms reflect a common cold/sore throat for the first week. After that, get it checked. No harm in waiting unless fever.

Treat the symptoms: Colds are caused by a virus. Antibiotics do not treat a virus. Keep hydrated and treat the symptoms. Stop the cough and your voice will return. Coughing strains the vocal cords. Treat the cough with something to help control it. An antihistamine tablet may be helpful to dry mucus in the throat and decrease cough.

I am 31 weeks pregnant & I had mild ulcerative collitis and was on salofalk granules 3gms/day. Now I start getting bloody/mucus stool, do I start med?

Call MDs: Don't start any meds without checking with your ob. Gut symptoms? See your gastroenterologist to see what is going on inside-could be hemorrhoids, or not, or more than that. Not uncommon for uc to flare in the 3rd trimester, especially if meds were discontinued.
