Glossitis: You describe glossitis. This is usually due to another illness (are you otherwise well?). An allergy, or no cause known. If it doesn't start to get better in a week, you should see your doctor.

Could be: Possibly an apthous ulcer or atraumatic ulcer. If the pain persists for more than 2 weeks or seems to be getting worse, see your dentist.
