Vaginismus: The treatment of vaginismus depends on accurate diagnosis. Is the pain with insertion initially or is the pain throughout intercourse? Sometimes people w/ vaginismus actually have vulvodynia or levator myalgia which have different treatments. Sometimes pelvic physical therapy, serial dilation. Can be safe to try xylocaine (lidocaine) soaked cotton swabs, left in vagina for 10min then removed prior to sex.
