See your surgeon.: Hardware removal can certainly be traumatic to the involved extremity, but to have significant swelling above the surgical site such as the hip and buttock may represent more than simple post-operative swelling. I would recommend follow-up evaluation with your surgeon to ensure there is no sign of infection or DVT (deep venous thrombosis). Better to be safe than sorry! see your surgeon.
