Follow directions: This injury can be unstable and proper immobilization will potentially avoid otherwise unnecessary surgery. My opinion is that your orthopedic surgeon will eventually put you into a hinged brace to allow for range of motion without side to side movement. Expect the first six weeks to be more strict guidelines and after six weeks guidelines will be lifted as healing dictates.
