I had a colonoscopy once and recently had diverticolitis, with infection, could i have contracted it from a dirty scope. how do i know they are clean?

Colonoscope: There are standard cleansing techniques employed by all reputable doctors performing these procedures. That having been said, diverticulitis will never be caused by a "dirty" colonoscope. This is an anatomic abnormality with outpouchings of the wall of the colon which are prone to perforation and infection spreading outside the gut. Nothing whatever to do with the procedure.
