Puberty & fertility: Regulates pubertal development & overall growth plus essential for fertility & sperm production.Fsh "matures" sperm producing cells in the testes. These cells, called spermatogonia, are stimulated to undergo meiotic division. This causes the full complement of 23 pairs chromosomes to split into 23 single chromosomes for the sperm nucleus. One of which is either an x or a y which determine fetal sex.
