Need to Supplement: While vegan diets can be healthy, some essential nutrients are impossible to get with a vegan diet. The most crucial is Vitamin B12, ideally as methyl or hydroxycobalamin. Some people can't synthesize EPA and DHA from ALA but there are sources from Algae. Like everyone, vegans should take 5-8000 iu/day of D3 in fall and winter- vegan sources available. Taurine and L-Carnitine are helpful too.
