Chemical Burns: If you are speaking about a medicinal form of alcohol, such as in mouthwash, that should not be a problem, though it is quite strong and can irritate the area. Dilute with water. If you are describing the kind of alcohol that you drink, i would refrain until the socket has healed a significant amount. Keep the area clean and allow mother nature her time to heal the tooth socket!

Dry socket: Dry socket occurs when the clot washes ouy\t of the socket, leaving the underlying bone exposed to the bacteria in your mouth. Alcohol can cause dissolution of the clot, and will not "clean" anything. If you're having a problem call the dentist or surgeon that removed the tooth for further instructions.
