SOON: You should be improving soon with a noted decrease in your symptoms. If not already done, and you do not get better, you should get a urinalysis with a culture and sensitivity. This test will determine what bacteria is causing your infection, and what antibiotic medications are best used to treat it. (raising the possibility that the bacteria you have is not sensitive the medication).

UTI treatment: Uncomplcated urinary tract infections in young women are usually easily eradicated. With some antibiotics like cipro, (ciprofloxacin) signs and symptoms disappear in a day or two. With sulfa type medications treatment may take much longer to clear the infection.
