A member asked:

Lasix is needed for chf/ckd fluid overload but causing burning during urination. should uti be suspected (finished antibiotic course). should low dose antibiotic be considered if inflammation/uri is recurring? will bumex work better in this case?

Need more informatio: This will need urine evaluation and culture. That information will help answer your question. Uncertain lasix (furosemide) is the problem. You can discuss this with your physician.

See below: any diuretic meds can cause burning sensation or urinary frequency. I would consider checking with gyn or urologist for the possibility of dryness of female anatomical area. this dryness presents similar symptoms as UTI

See DR: Lasix (furosemide) does not cause burning urine. Look for an alternative idea.

Urine culture: May need urinary analgesics like pyridium (phenazopyridine) for burning and finish the antibiotic course
