Ulcer on tongue: Mouth ulcers (aphthous ulcers) will heal in 7-10 days. Get some orabase ointment otc at your pharmacy. This is an oral bandage that you can apply on the ulcer before meals to reduce any discomfort from eating and drinking.

Depends: If it's just an ulcer from trauma or virus it will disappear in a few days. If you're concerned call your dentist for an examination. What you call an ulcer may be something else, so it's never inappropriate to schedule an examination.
