Not neccesarily: The cause of dry sockets is not fully understood. You can have two very similar wisdom teeth removed at the same time from both sides of the lower arch; one ends up with a dry socket and the other doesn't. The best you can do is to follow your dentist's post-op instructions as precisely as possible.

Not recommended: Dry socket is not an infection, therefore antibiotics are not indicated as preventive.
