A member asked:

My mother and father both had had alzheimer's disease. what are the chances that i will?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Probably 50/50: Assuming both acquired spontaneous dementias, and neither had a genetic variation, you would have a risk of about 50% by age 85. However, some newer understanding suggests less risk without head trauma, and control of cardiovascular risks and diabetes also lowers eventual dementia. Might talk to your doctor about preventative measures.
