A bit more than othe: You are at a slightly higher risk than the general population but not by much. Remember that a very high % of folks who reach age 85 develop alzheimer's disease.

Depends on onset: There are a few rare cases where alzheimer's disease (ad) does run in families. These tend to be cases of 'early onset' ad, which affects those under the age of 65. In these cases, the probability for brothers, sisters and children will develop ad is one in 2.If a family member has a normal form of ad, the risk to close relatives is around three times that of a person with no family member history.
