What is the best way to cope with a parent with alzheimer's disease?

Can be difficult: First, accept that the parent is changed and inappropriate behaviour is part of the disease and not due to true feelings. Best to keep home activities consistent and on schedule and repetitively orient the parent regarding time, dates, and situations. Some meds do help, and often the Alzheimer's assoc has some valuable approaches. Chronic care may eventually be needed. Help is available.

Love him/her: Do not argue, share some pleasant long term care memories, do some activities with him/her.
