Not part of exam: I know of no area where a formal pelvic exam would be considered necessary for followup of a routine uti. Some generalists ; adolescent med physicians routinely do an external exam ( verifies the parts are healthy) , but the internal exam is not routine until later. Discussion about sex and uti's is a normal part of the workup, as voiding after sex can reduce UTI frequency.
