Neti pots can : Reduce nasal congestion. Mix ¼ tsp salt w 1 cup lukewarm water. More salt can also be used. Place solution in neti pot. Tilt head ; pour solution into 1 nostril. Blow nose lightly ; spit out any liquid that drains into throat. Repeat on other side. This can be done in the evening before you go to bed ; again in A.M. You can watch a video online to get the finer details down. Afrin is hard core.

Depends: If it is caused by a cold, then a 4-5 days' use of afrin is ok. If it is caused by allergy, then you may need a nasal steroid or rx nasal antihistamine.

Nasal saline/mist: Humidified air mist and nasal saline drops with gentle suction are recommended. If your daughter has more than 48 hours of fever, or appears to be in pain, please see your pediatrician right away.
