Some suggestions: Your illness may be a viral infection, but if there is a high fever, localized pain, worsening or persistent symptoms, a follow up visit should be done. Typically a viral illness will resolve within 10 days. Nasal saline, tylenol (acetaminophen) for fever, fluids and rest are advised.
