What effect does having a chronically ill parent have on a child?

Dealing with stress: Depending on the age and personality of a child, the effects of having a chronically ill parent can be significant. Open communication and support are critical. ?'s need to be answered and efforts made to insure that incorrect assumptions by the child dont unduly affect them. I recommend counseling whenever a child seems to be overwhelmed. Teachers can provide input too. Reassurance important.
