About

Bio

I have 54 years of life experience which allows me to share with families what is successful in life decisions. Also, I have been a father for 30 years and this has educated me in the fine art of child rearing and "management". I am a people person. I like to help people. God has blessed me with many opportunities to do that. We empathize with our many patients who are struggling. Our goal is to assist them as much as possible. I have exercised for decades and feel it is one of the best ways to insure good health. I am a firm believer in the importance of children being given every opportunity to excell. I have also been blessed with an outstanding training from Dallas Southwestern medical school and Vanderbilt Univ pediatric residency training. Good backgrounds to continue in our efforts to provide the best for our patients' needs.

Specialties
Doctors may have more than one area of specialty interest. Board certification in a specialty area means the doctor has completed formal training and has practice experience in that specialty, and has passed the certification examination from the corresponding accredited medical specialty board.

Behavoir problems: An experienced pediatrician can begin a work-up of a child with behavior problems. Depending on the severity of the issues with the child, a psychiatrist or psychologist may also need to be involved. If autism is suspected, then a developmental expert at a pediatric hospital can provide helpful information to discover why a child and family are struggling with certain behaviors.

Dealing with stress: Depending on the age and personality of a child, the effects of having a chronically ill parent can be significant. Open communication and support are critical. ?'s need to be answered and efforts made to insure that incorrect assumptions by the child dont unduly affect them. I recommend counseling whenever a child seems to be overwhelmed. Teachers can provide input too. Reassurance important.

Yes: It is not necessary to circumcise a boy but it does improve hygeine. Uncircumcised boys and parents will have to deal with that foreskin for many years to come. Most other males in this country are circumcised and this can become an issue in locker rooms. Circumcised males have fewer uti's and foreskin infections and there are some concerns about std transmission from long foreskins.
