A member asked:

Is it possible to feel symptoms of hypothyroid with a tsh of 3.2 ? i see that recommendations in usa i to not go above 3 with tsh

Yes. Opinions vary.: In the last lab i used, the normal range for TSH was up to 2.5. (in my current lab, i think it's 4.5!) i generally aim for a TSH of 2.0. Hypothyroid symptoms: fatigue, dry skin/hair, constipation, weight gain, can be caused by other things, of course. Lgromkomd.

May not be thyroid: The symptoms of hypothyroid are not unique to hypothyroid, and could be caused by many other things. That is probably the case with you. On the other hand, I have a few patients taking levothyroxine for hypo who claim they feel better on a dose of drug that makes their TSH less than 2, as opposed to more than 2. But that is not the norm.
