More info needed!: Low iron level by itself does not always indicate iron deficiency. To interpret the results, we interpret it in conjunction with ferritin, TIBC and iron saturation. Low iron level can some times be seen if you have an inflammatory / infectious condition at the time of blood draw. It is very unusual to have iron deficiency in a young man as it is usually seen in young females due to menstruation.
