No accurate answer: All cancers have variable rates of growth so one cannot give an average time from stage 1 to 4. Unfortunately , most nsclungcancer grow relatively rapidly and can go from stage 1 to 4 within months. In reality all that needs to occur to go from stage 1 (localized) to stage 4 (spread to distant organ(s) is for a cell or clump of cells to break away from the primary and attach and grow distantly.
