See ENT: 8 years of a chronic condition as described with mucus production and suspected possible post nasal drip syndrome should be evaluated and treated by a specialist (otorhinolaryngologist-ent doctor). Good luck.

Clears throat often: This could be chronic allergy with post nasal drip. Have you tried an antihistamine. If you have allergy you should see your doctor to diagnosis whether you do or not. Perhaps clearing your throat has become a habit due to anxiety or emotional problem. Be sure you do not smoke or chew tobacco as this can cause a chronic problem, and avoid recreational drugs.
