See answer: It's a normal part of development, and it usually happens around 8-9 months of age and may last until a year or so. The child experiences anxiety when separated from the primary caregiver (usually the mother) and might cry, cling to that caregiver.

No: According to the center of disease control and prevention (cdc), malaria is not common in all countries in africa. Malaria is present in the majority of countries that make up the portion considered sub-saharan, but there are a couple countries like south Africa where it is typically not found. The CDC has a nice world MAP showing the distribution of malaria: http://cdc-malaria.Ncsa.Uiuc.Edu/.

Agree overall, but malaria is found in the northern-most province of South Africa, called the Limpopo, and in the eastern part of the country in the region bordering Mozambique which is known as the lowveld and which is centred around the city of Barberton. This is particularly important for visitors to South Africa who intend to visit the game reserves there, such as the Kruger National Park.

Is there medication to help with anxiety?

Yes: There are many medications to deal with anxiety. However, i would advise first speaking to your primary care physician, or if pregnant, with your ob/gyn to devise an appropriate plan to deal with your anxiety. Sometimes just speaking with a psychologist or psychiatrist is helpful without medication. If medication is needed then the one with the most benefit and least risk can be selected.

Manage: Anxiety is a natural emotion. It is our body's alarm system and its very difficult to "lessen".However it can be managed through various coping skills and learned techniques. The goals of most therapies are to learn these and live well with anxiety.

See below: Some medical conditions might also have anxiety symptoms. Make sure you discuss your concerns with your primary care provider to rule out anything medical going on. Find a mental health professional to help you work on triggers for your anxiety. Consider meds if symptoms become overwhelming.

The list is too long but some common causes includes financial hardship, marriage problems, infidelity, not expressing your true feeling, preparing for an exam, having an underlying phobia, previous traumatic events.
