Depends: Whats wrong with your tooth? Depending on what's wrong would determine the treatment. Of course, only a licensed dentist can make the proper determination and provide the proper treatment for whatever ails you. If you avoid the dentist, eventually you will have no more teeth to have problems with.

Depends: What's your problem? Cavity/abscess is an infection that requires professional care. Teeth out of position say, "Go see an Orthodontist." Stained teeth can be temporarily helped with OTC's, but for true whitening you need dental care. Mobility indicates bone loss that may require Rx by Periodontist. Please see your Dentist before the problem becomes untreatable.
