Babies had recurring tonsillitis over a year docs have opted for tonsillectomy what connects that and apnoea and are there long term impacts?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Some basics: Tonsilar tissue occupies space in the airway and in some kids will result in excessive snoring & long breathing pauses >30 sec, that prevents them from reaching deep sleep. The kids are often excessively crabby & difficult. They are often around 4 when this is to the point removal is considered. After recovery these kids are often behaviorally quite different & even pleasant. Sleep does wonders.
