Few things: Calcifications in globus pallidus portion of basal ganglia are usually detected by ct of brain. In older individuals (1% population) calcifications are part of aging process.Younger than 40y are abnormal and should have workup by physician.. Calcifications can be idiopathic (farr diseae) heavy metals, cong. Infections, metabolic (renal failure, 2ndary hyperparathyroidism, etc.).
