Looking in the eye: When a doctor looks into your eye with a light, the instrument is a funduscope. It allows him or her to see the blood vessels and the back of the eye to check for vascular or eye diseases.

Funduscopy=exam: Fundus is the inner workings of the eye including the retina (macula), blood vessels, vitreous and optic nerve examined with special equipment in the office. "Scopy" comes from scope , so funduscopy is a scoping or examination of the inside of the eye using instruments like a funduscope.
