Difficult: The key is to get your disease under control so the acute lesions are kept at bay. The hyperpigmentation is best left to fade on its own; if you try to use a hydroquinone bleach you are likely just to disfigure yourself. The depressed scars can't be managed except by a dermatologist or plastic surgeon who can make them less visible with a filler, laser, or microsurgery.

Combo treatments: Acne scarring and hyperpigmentation often occur together. Once the inflammatory acne is under control ,topical 2% salicylic acid can conditions skin and reduce pigmentation. Microabrasion with claisonic brush, medical grade microdermabrasion , micro needling , or stronger chemical peels are options to discuss with a specialist. E-matrix and fraxel lasers can also help.
