A member asked:

Im on hydrochlorothiazide 25mg. i've been on it 4 days now and see no change in blood pressure, how long does it take to start working?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

HCTZ (hydrochlorothiazide) and BP: You need to see your physician (p) and ask the p why your hctz (hydrochlorothiazide) is not working. It is a diuretic and you may be taking in too much water and/or salt so you cannot eliminate water. You may need another agent(s) to control your bp. You are a bit young to be troubled with essential hypertension (h). Ask your p if you may have secondary h, which is caused by other factors. You p is best to help you.
