How can you tell the difference between costochronditus and sore pectoral muscle.

Exam localization: If one has greater discomfort on compression of the ribs near the cartilaginous joints rather than a diffuse tenderness over the chest wall, it would be more likely to be a costochondritis. Physical examination needs to be more detailed and more specific in its results to answer this question more accurately.
