A member asked:

I've heard a lot of hype on coconut oil lately. are there any real benefits? if so, what are they?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Coconut oil: Contains medium chain triglycerides that act as an alternative food for brain cells other than glucose. Glucose is the primary fuel for the brain. Since patients with Alzheimer's disease cannot use glucose as fuel for brain cells, coconut oil becomes an alternative, even though it is less efficient than glucose.
