A member asked:

What's the longest an ingrown toenail post surgery take to heel with no pain at all? is 4 months with pain still normal?

Usually 6 weeks: If you are still having pain 4 months after the procedure, perhaps there is still a small piece of nail causing irritation and pain. Talk to your doctor to see why you are having symptoms this long out. Good luck to you.

Toe pain: No it is not normal to have pain for four months after surgery. You may have a complication. Call your surgeon to report this condition to see how to proceed.

Have it evaluated.: It would be a good idea to have it looked at. After four months you really should not be having a lot of pain following toenail surgery. More aggressive procedure like matrixectomies on the other hand may take a bit longer to heal. Have it evaluated and get the appropriate treatment.

No: The surgical site should be healed by now. Go back to your doctor and be re-evaluated.
