False positive ETG: Ethyl gluglucuronide (etg) is a breakdown product of ethyl alcohol. It is a good test used to confirm sobriety because it is present in urine much longer than ethanol. Although it is most sensitive for ethyl alcohol, the test can produce a positive result if sufficient amount of other alcohols are consumed/absorbed which are also broken down by the body into ethanol and then into etg.
