Virus: Viral upper respiratory infections usually start in the throat and chills and flu like body aches are common. At this stage rest, fluids and tylenol (acetaminophen) are all that's needed. A head cold and mild cough may follow. These infections last 5 to 10 days. If symptoms worsen or last much longer, see your physician.
