R/O CRYPT TRAPPING: Tonsilar crypt trapping can cause chronic tonsillitis you need to have throat cultured and a full panel of blood work. Empiric antibiotics Also ENT CONSULT re tonsillectomy . The firm external sensation may be a secondary enlarged lymph node.

Strep throat?: You may gave strep throat. Go to an urgent care center in the morning and get evaluated and treated. Do not kiss anyone or share drinking glasses/ table ware with anyone till you have strep throat ruled out.
