A member asked:

Hbsag + in 1998, anti-hdv + in 2012, then anti-hdv -ve in 2013. still high hbsag 2069, sgpt 56 & sgot 37. platelets 140x10e9/l. other lab tests normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hepatitis B;D: One does not become symptomatic with delta agent unless one has active hepatitis b with surface antigen necessary to make hdv a whole virus. You should be seen by a hepatologist and treated if it is warranted for your hep b because of the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma and other complications in the future. There is now effective treatment. Hope this clears satisfactorily.
