I123: You will probably need to undergo what is called a i123 nuclear scan and uptake of the thyroid. Findings of heterogeneous non cystic nodules require more information on whether they are worrisome (cold) nodules or non-worrisome (hot) nodules. Cold nodules usually require biopsy to make sure they are not a problem. Not all cold nodules will be problem nodules.
