Confusing question: I follow many infants that sleep 6-8 hours at night by a month of age that are thriving and they continue to do so through infancy. The trick is feeding them as they awaken and letting them self settle into sleep when they get tired and fussy. By that time they have plenty of food in their intestine to sustain long periods of sleep. Infants fed prior to sleep rarely sleep > 4 hours at a time.
