Terrible guiolt.: Terrible. In my 35 years of practice, I have had at least half a dozen patients commit suicide and i always feel guilty and try analyze what i missed or where i may have done wrong. All but one had voiced suicidal ideations. The one person who did admit to suicidal ideations was admitted involuntarily then when she went home, hung herself.

I can't speak for : Other people -only for myself. I have had one patient commit suicide while directly under my care. He ; i had worked together for over a year ; a half. Although he had attempted suicide previously ; was facing horrible life events - i had hope for him. I was very sad when i learned he died. I cared about him. I invest myself in treatment, so it hurts.
