Food is not the key: Hypertension at your age needs a proper workup. If it's true, common 'idiopathic' hypertension, salt restriction is probably part of your treatment. But we need to rule out anxiety from being at the doctor ('white jacket syndrome'), pheochromocytoma, cushing's, conn's, hyperthyroidism, coarctation of the aorta, and renal artery stenosis.

Lowering BP: BP is raised by salt. So, avoid salt daily. BP can be lowered by losing weight. Try to lose weight by exercise, walking, eating less sugar and bread, and avoiding animal fats. Eat whole fruits, whole veggies, and whole grains. Fruit and veggies can lower BP thru magnesium and potassium flows.

Food BP: In general most with high blood pressure are eating too much salt. But work with team to see what is causing it and ask about the low Na DASH diet as it is recommended in all with high blood pressure before moving to medications.
