No such thing: It's either broken or not. You may have sprained your ankle which presents with pain, swelling on outside part of your ankle. Typically pain is below tip of bone. If your pain persist despite two weeks of treatment (splint:boot and crutches) you should followup with your orthopedist. May consider MRI to rule out an occult fracture.
