Our 9 year olds ankle x-ray showed accessory ossification affecting distal fibula. does that mean a fracture?

Nope.: Ossifications are areas where the childhood cartilage is transforming into adult bone. They usually are asymptomatic; however, they may be in area that becomes injured. If no fracture is seen on x-ray, the area may be treated based on the clinical findings or other imaging modalities may be used.
