Efficacy of d-dimer: That is actually a hard question to answer. There are different testing methods and some d-dimer tests are more reliable than others. If you have a low probability of having a blood clot by history and a low d-dimer, it is pretty safe to say that you don't have a blood clot. If you have a high d-dimer and a high probabilty of a blood clot by history, then your risk of a clot is high.
