A member asked:

I have a growing presacral nodule that is nonhypermetabolic. radiologist recommends mri. how could an mri help diagnosis the nodule? any rec on f/u plans?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

More information...: Nonhypermetabolic is usually a good thing. Hypermetabolic is nonspecific ; could be infection, inflammation, or tumor. The nodule can be a lymph node or something else. Ct, pet, and MRI all provide complimentary info. Mri with contrast can show enhancement patterns which can help characterize the nodule. If it is growing it should be watched closely. Biopsy could tell what it is.
