Short duration: if you do not have a cardiovascular or cardiac rhythm issue, a few days of sudafed is likely ok. However there is a higher risk for stroke among people taking sudafed on a regular basis. Topical decongestion nasal spray is far more effective for a cold and nasal steroid spray is far more effective for nasal congestion. Sudafed is my last choice.
