Maybe not?: Depends on what they are testing for? For example, in the cause of neuropathies, there are literally hundreds of causes. Sometimes a genetic test is the only way to pinpoint a diagnosis.

Worry = loaded word: Of course you are worried or you would not be seeking answers. If the doc asked you to do some testing it is to better define the issue you are investigating. Knowing what/why a problem exists can help focus treatments. Genetic testing also allows a chance to rule in or out issues that other family members may need to know.
